The Surrender Collection: Created For You
This past year, Mary and I took some time off Live Today Well…and by some time, I mean close to 5 months. It wasn’t originally our plan, but to be honest, we were both wrestling with some tough things in our personal lives. Challenging adjustments to new seasons of life, mental and physical health struggles, shifting family dynamics, and just plain old burn out.
We had been running on the hamster wheel frantically since the previous summer. We longed to continue to serve you all through this ministry, but here’s the painful truth:
You can’t minister if you’re burned out. You can’t give what you don’t have. And if your well has run dry and your prayer life and health are flagging, then that needs to be priority number ONE.
And so, we did what often seems unthinkable in the fast paced, social media world… we took a few months off ENTIRELY to rest, to pray, and to just be.
As the spring drew to a close, Mary and I sat down to pray and chat. We shared where we were each at in our personal lives and reflected together. One theme kept surfacing over and over as we conversed and prayed together: Surrender.
The need for surrender is universal in all of our lives and a big part of our call as Christians. After all, how can we serve the Lord if we do not first rest Him? We are broken human beings, in need of His loving care and restoration. But the process of surrender is never easy. Surrender requires us to release what we hold tightly in the our grasp, to surrender all illusion of control, to lean into His will instead of our own.
As we shared about our struggles to surrender all to the Lord and rely on Him in the challenges of our different seasons, we felt a magnetic pull, drawing us to rest in Psalm 23: The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want.
We are all called to surrender our wants and needs, to lay them at the feet of the one who loves us most of all. The Lord invites all of us to draw near, to allow Him to restore order to our days and souls.
And so, God prompted us to create this Surrender Collection for you. Yes, you. No matter what season of life you find yourself in, we, the Live Today Well Collective, are here, standing beside you, offering ourselves to the Father and encouraging you to do the same. Dearest friend, you are never alone.
