Welcome to the Well: Introducing Our New Blog Series

A Samaritan woman came to draw water, and Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink.” The Samaritan woman said to him, “How is it that you, a Jew, ask a drink of me, a woman of Samaria?” Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.” The woman said to him, “Sir, you have no bucket, and the well is deep. Where do you get that living water? Are you greater than our ancestor Jacob, who gave us the well, and with his sons and his flocks drank from it?” Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but those who drink of the water that I will give them will never be thirsty. The water that I will give will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life.” The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I may never be thirsty or have to keep coming here to draw water.” John 4:7-15

Have you ever wished that Jesus could approach you and speak candidly with you? The woman in this Gospel passage asks questions, and Jesus responds so clearly and succinctly. Wouldn’t our lives be easier if we could just sit and chat with Our Lord as the woman at the well does in Samaria? Instead, it can often seem as though our lives are filled with conflicting messages and hectic schedules. Quiet prayer time can all too easily fly out the window in the rush of toddler tantrums, homework deadlines, and PowerPoint presentations.

Especially in this day and age, we can often feel dragged down by isolation and the weight of our worries. Our communities that we normally turn to for succor have been disrupted by events such as quarantine and social distancing. We are left feeling alone in our struggles and wondering where Jesus is in our day-to-day. We hear you, sister, because we at Live Today Well are in the same boat!

In light of these struggles, we are pleased to announce a new series for the blog called Women at the Well. Inspired by the story in the Gospel of John, we have invited women from all different vocations and walks of life to share how Jesus approaches, challenges, and speaks to them on the daily.

Every month, a different woman will open her heart to the community and discuss the workings of the Lord within her unique vocation. Whether you are a college student, single, dating, married with or without kids, divorced, or discerning the religious life, this community is here for you.

Our hope, here at Live Today Well, is that you walk away from the series with a renewed vision of Jesus’ presence in your own life. So pour yourself a mug of your favorite beverage, and welcome to the community at the Well.
